The lines left in the sand at low tide, the motion of the eddies and current, the pattern that bugs leave on a branch when you remove the bark, these natural patterns have found a way into and have inspired my current work.
The ever-growing shard series is a result of years of experimenting with color, light, and form. These vessels are based on controlling the effects that are created from heat and air, producing a loose and interesting layered patterns. The addition of cane (sticks of glass) has given me another layer that I can capture the movement that keeps these pieces alive. When I choose my forms I use smooth transitions and tight bottoms giving them an elegant lighter feel. I am creating a feeling within a contained form allowing the shard patterns to start to take shape in ones own thoughts. The closer that one looks the more imagery will start to come out.
When people view my work, I like to leave people, with a smile on there face. Wondering how did he do that. Thanks
